Cork is the bark of the cork oak (Quercus Suber); the bark is removed from the tree, which means the tree is neither cut nor damaged. Its natural and unique color makes each piece unique.
Cork is an organic material composed of an agglomeration of honeycomb cells. Each cubic centimeter of cork contains about 40 million cells. This results in special physical properties such as friction resistance, light weight and flexibility. Cork material has other advantages such as good thermal insulation, breathable and moisture-resistant properties. This compound is a micro-agglomerate without additives or glue. The cork granules are then molded and pressed into the desired shape. To achieve the desired aesthetics for the cork cases, many decorations such as embossing/debossing, screen printing, hot stamping, or laser engraving are possible.

SUE cork is an innovative technology that allows a very high percentage of natural and renewable raw material to be used to its full potential for cosmetic use: friction resistance, flexibility, breathability, and protective properties. To harvest the cork, simply pull it from the tree without cutting it, which means the tree can be harvested several times during its lifetime. The technology behind the cork container involves cork granules and its binder with a compression process. Thanks to this production process, a wide range of shapes and sizes with fine details can be achieved. Cork has an exceptional touch that provides a great sensory experience with tempting decorations such as embossing, debossing, or laser engraving for a very natural and durable decoration.

How does your product meet the evaluation criteria of its category?
SUE was developed to propose to the cosmetic industry an innovative and sustainable packaging solution for solid cosmetic products. Cork or tree bark, is a renewable and alternative material meaning that the tree won’t be cut.
A cork oak tree needs 30 years to be harvestable, instead of cutting it, only the external part is extracted. The cork will grow back and the same tree can be harvested several times through its life span.
In the meantime, the cork container absorbs shocks and protect the product. It is also lightweight and friction resistant meaning that its transport won’t need extra protection. SUE is very versatile since once the product is finished, it can be recharged or be reused as a container for any smaller objects or as a decoration item.
